One day at school
it was the best
we had a special guest
he was a scientist
He talked about his job
and said that’s only half the story
cause now you all get to go
to my laboratory
we took a field trip
and went from school
to a place filled with equipment and tools
and while we walked around
I was the last one in line
then I heard a strange voice
coming back from behind
I turned around and saw
a robot looking at me
I thought this is cool!
I stopped and let the class leave
He had a metal body
and shining red eyes
he beeped a couple times
and then he said Hi!
sometimes his words didn’t make
a whole lot of sense
cause he usually only talked
to his robot friends
but we got it figured out
he spoke in different sounds
he told me then he showed me
he could lift a million pounds!
I met the other robots
they all had cool tricks
one could fly
one only spoke in music
another one could disappear
one could change shapes
he showed me-I looked
and we had the same face
we had fun
I told them I was glad we met
and went back
with my class and left
I used to wonder if being a robot was cool
now I’m sure it is
I still think about it
and get curious
cause its mysterious

One night I was
there in my yard
staring at stars
and even though it barely was dark
I could see a bunch of them
twinkling every single one
shone like the sky was
a million little suns
then a couple of them started moving
and that was weird
when I was in school and they talked about the atmosphere
they never said stars would get bigger
and spin in circles
making strange sounds
blinking pink and purple
I had to wait a bit
I didn’t know what to think yet
and then the spaceship
landed next to my swing set
some starts came out
and lightly thumped
a little guy walked down
looking like a tree stump
he stood without moving
he seemed scared about the human
looking at him so I waved
and I said how ya doin?
he started talking
with a smile on his face
and asked if I wanted to take
a ride into space
we blasted off
I felt like an astronaut
the tree stump man
drove the ship and laughed a lot
he showed me lots of thing
Pluto and Saturn’s rings
and giant space turtles
teaching goldfish how to sing
we raced shooting stars
through space and flew to mars
he showed me where the dragons live
and which moon is ours
I used to wonder if space was cool
now I’m sure it is
I still think about it
and get curious
cause it’s mysterious
