Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is the King of Kid Hop! Purveyor of Family Hip Hop at its finest, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo has captivated crowds internationally with his own funky brand of positive half pint party music. Combining deft wordplay, great storytelling and pure positivity on top of thumping drums and sophisticated multi-instrumental productions, 23 Skidoo speaks to kids and parents alike. 23 Skidoo bumps up the volume and kids' self esteem, while setting the family music bar higher than a hidden cookie jar.
In 2008, after more than a decade of touring as a rapper/producer and sharing the stage with the likes of Run DMC, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and the P Funk All Stars, 23 Skidoo dropped Easy, his debut kid hop album for and with his 5 year old daughter, Saki. The kid hop concept spread like wildflowers, generating critical raves from USA Today and Parenting Magazine, and two #1 hits on Sirius-XM radio's "Kids Place Live." Skidoo's sophomore release, Underground Playground (2010) also scored topspins on Sirius-XM and garnered glowing reviews from Time and NPR's "All Things Considered." In addition to praise for his studio albums, 23 Skidoo has rocked sets around the nation including performances at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, The Winnipeg Folk Festival, Irving Plaza, Legoland and The Smithsonian.
23 Skidoo is a spokesman for positivity, education and awareness. His efforts to promote reading were recognized when he was chosen as the New York City Library Summer Reading Program Official Spokesman for 2010/2011. His advocacy for peace and cooperation landed him a feature spot on the 2012 Grammy award winning album, All About Bullies...Big and Small. His contribution (with The Sugar Free Allstars) is the single "Cooperate", which also enjoys regular spins on kids' radio shows around the country.
After two albums on L.A. based kids label Happiness Records, 23 Skidoo pulled off a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2011 that allowed him to record his third album and launch his own label. In May 2012, Make Believers was released as the first project on Underground Playground Records.
As a producer, 23 Skidoo drew from some of his favorite retro styles, combining golden age hip hop with funk, soul, surf rock and even swing to give Make Believers a timeless feel. 23 Skidoo is continually inspired by his daughters' trials and smiles as she grows up. These new songs offer life lessons that apply to all of us, regardless of age. And of course, 23 Skidoo's new music offers listeners heavy doses of funk-fried awesomeness.
23 Skidoo is joined on all three albums by his wife Brooke (aka Bootysattva) and now 10 year old daughter Saki (aka MC Fireworks). Fans of 23 Skidoo's music can hear how the albums are growing up along with his daughter. Like the Harry Potter series, 23 Skidoo's songs grow bit more complex and mature with every release. And now that Saki is a tween, the newest installment, Make Believers, has a depth and sophistication rarely found in the family music genre. Stay tuned for the next Album, Live and Super funky! with Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, to be released Fall 2013!
